Anyone here grow wild strawberries?
I have f. virginiana, f. vesca, f. alpina, f. moschata, and f. viridis.
I can get the virginias, alpines, and woodlands to fruit well enough, but I have large, mature patches of greens and musks which refuse to fruit. I made sure to buy from suppliers who ship a mixture of male and female seed, but after 4 years not a single flower in sight.
Also, I managed to isolate some viable virginia-domestic crossbreeds. They produce small, delicious berries like the wild ones, but the leaves are round like domestics, and the seeds are yellow like domestics (not to mention, the fruit is somewhat larger on average).
pic related is my crossbreed compared with wild, note the yellow seeds compared to the black/brown wild seeds.
