>>1502303Yeah black drum. The bigger ones are more likely to have worms but they are fairly easy to spot. I think they are a really underrated eating fish. Around my area restaurants start making drumfish parm and drum cakes. Its meat is a little fishier but I like it. Another reason people don’t fuck with them is because they are considered to be bony and near impossible to clean that effectively. However I think it’s a myth. On a 45lb drum I can typically get about 5-8lbs of meat in nice filets. And then I scrape the rib meat which is considered by many to be the best part.
Pic related is a bunch of blues we caught when a big school cake through where we were fishing. We just changed gears and decided fuck it. Took a while to clean but it made pretty good tacos.
