I have done the Subway on multiple occasions, and have rappelled at that exact place only once. It is actually a slightly awkward downclimb. The rock is polished and slick and the move ends up being more of an ass slide to jump, which is how people get hurt. Beyond that, you might have wet shoes at that point, depending on water levels. People thinking that they're superman in the wild and National Parks are really fucking stupid, and often leads to other people having to risk their lives to fix your fuck up.
Beyond that, I see and hear a lot of people talking shit on using ropes for different things and i'm positive it's because they have no ropework skills and don't want to be bothered. Ropes can take you crazy places, and lazy fucks aren't going to want to be those places anyways, so they just talk shit.
