theyre just as heavy as chacos, and not as adjustable. but they protect your little toesies when fording rivers, and keeps a higher percentage of annoying little rocks out when hotspringing. theyre ugly as sin, something an old Asian man at a national park would wear; but they serve a specific purpose for me, and seems theyd work for you too.
i still prefer my shitty little xero sandals for backpacking, cuz they weigh nothing and do the bare essential, keeps shit from poking my feet.
