I just drive up dirt roads and then start walking towards whatever I see that looks interesting. A few of my favorite roads for parking and walking are Clear Creek Road up to Winfield, Mosquito Pass, and Weston Pass. These are rough roads, high clearance in a couple places. But great scenery and plenty to explore on either side of the valley. Once you get off the road you won't see people. Except maybe hunters this time of year. Wear orange.
