>>943012Yeah it's just always suprising when you can actually hook them on hooks that large. Same with the Mayans. They have real small mouths like bluegill but at least larger ones can take down Mepps #2 or like #6 Rapalas since they get larger than the bluegill. I don't even get many bluegill here since the Mayans displaced them, most lakes are probably like 60%-80% Mayan cichlids and 20%-40% bluegill. Mayans hit and fight harder at least, I had a bigger Mayan going hard on that Sebile today but he couldn't get that odd hook in his mouth.
I always liked green sunfish up in IL because they had the larger mouths where even a 4" fish could hit a Mepps #2 easily.
