>>1836987Next up would be the Honey Mesquite tree. Ranchers hate the fuck out of it as it turns grassland into thorny brushland (usually due to their families own bad land practices). That said it's a tough tree that can survive in terrible places. It makes pods that can be eaten, its seeds can be made into flour, its wood is hard and good for tool making or burning, great for BBQ or smoking, and it is a good source of nectar for bees. It can be a scrubby little bush or a fat tree with a wide canopy. Most importantly, it gives shade where there might otherwise be none for a long way off.
