Sleep did not come easily. I put the space blanket in backwards. It was reflecting the heat of the fire away from me and allowing my heat to escape. I was wearing a t shirt and a sleeveless vest (Vest is pictured in the OP). I woke shivering multiple times throughout the night. I had to rebuild the fire several times. I killed an extra pair of socks by using them as arm warmers and cutting holes for my fingers. I also ended up sleeping with my bike helmet on because I could not find another way to get comfortable. Do You guys usually pack a pillow? Would you suggest getting a sleeping bag and or sleeping mat? Can I use my space blanket again and again?
Misc questions:
Do you ever have problems with insects and critters getting in your tent? How do you avoid it? I was greatly concerned about a snake coming over to cuddle with me in the night. I urinated a circle around my tent to claim my territory.
How much water do you usually pack? I ended up eating a dry breakfast of trail mix as opposed to hot oatmeal because I wanted to use the last of my water for drinking on the way home.
Do you usually leave the fire going when you are asleep? I left mine going, I simply placed one large flat rock on the entire campfire. This allowed the embers to continue burning so I could easily start a fire in the morning.
