I also was black diamond/petzl guy and just grabbed it cause 9 dollar backup, and I use it more than any other headlamp I have. It's a shit ton brighter than it should be, and the batteries last a loooooong time.
TL;DR Rayovac headlamps aren't as shit as you think they are....
