I should try some gravel like that in my cactus pot. I got a big bag of pic related, I have used regular potting soil too, not too much of a difference, but sometimes in the rainy season it’s too much for a couple of the cactuses when it’s an inch of rain every afternoon and super humid the rest of the day. Also the pot drains, but not the greatest unless I tip it to the side.
