>>1553763I'm not watching a one hour video, but I'm aware of that opinion from other sources... and I'm not really sure wether they are saying industrial society at our scale is impossible with renewable energy or any industrial society is impossible. As you can see here, the united states (admittedly a very thinly populated country at the time) only started to use fossil fuel in significant amounts during the mid-late 19th century, when industrialization was well underway. I'm sure, given zero fossil fuels to use, we would have advanced a bit further than that with hydropower, wind, etc. though certainly not as far as we are now.
Basically, we might well be fucked for now, but a sustainable industrial society might be possible in the far future.
