I'm
>>2118787. I was rather pessimistic in my reply, where I was projecting experiences from a friend who spent about half a year riding a bicycle from Kathmandu to Bangkok, but not in a straight line, he went to Vietnam or Cambodia as well for example.
While it was a great trip and an incredible adventure, a lot wasn't fun for him, he was short of giving up a couple of times, especially at the beginning. A big problem was him being alone. One or two times he had a nice riding partner for a few weeks but that was it, he hasn't met many people on his trip. Might be different for you however.
From my personal experience: The time I had spent at a place I really enjoyed - which had been national parks especially - was much better than the time I had spent making miles. I prefer having some kind of camp and exploring from that camp the environment than spending time in figuring the next steps and stops out.
Either way, if the elevation is not that bad and are willing to hitchhike than you should be able to do it.
If I was you I would think about starting at Puerto Montt instead of Santiago if all your 7 main goals are at the same height or southern of it.
Good luck, anon.
