>>1692758Cam Honan is a ledgend, iirc he holds the current record for the calander triple crown, which he completed as a part of hiking 12 long trails back to back. He has hiked everything, everywhere, while being a chilled, smiley aussie. His website The Hiking Life has been a constant source of inspiration and knowledge for me. If there's something that guy doesn't know about putting one foot in front of the other and camping out then I'm not sure anyone else does.
Andrew Bentz is a pretty cool guy, co-owner of Pa’lante Packs, so has been at the heart of the UL hypebeast. But he does/did hold the FKT for the john muir trail, which he completed with a home made backpack. His ski traverse is awesome as well. Love or hate Pa’lante Packs both John Z and Andrew are pretty hardcore and have set some mad speed records.
>What websites besides /out/ do you discuss these kinds of things? While there is some cool stuff on /out/ and it's probably the place I spend most of my online time, I come here mainly to shit post and muck around, and not for in depth conversation or information about anything.
>Pic related is from the first pct winter thru hike, seems quite an heavy pack. That pic is from the sierra section, they switched out gear for the high mountains.
>For the early parts of the trip Lichter used a Granite Gear Crown VC 60 ($199.95 at REI) and Forry a Mount Laurel Designs Exodus ($195).>For the High Sierra stretch they each switched to a Leopard AC 58 ($249.95 at REI) to accommodate additional food and avalanche equipment. They used an UL tarp on their hike, a DCF MLD duomid. They both used quilts for the whole hike, as well as DCF ponchos for sections, a UL alochol stove etc.
