>>2307769Most people on trail crews are outcasts, drifters, ex (or current) hippies and druggies. For the most part, a very left to far left crowd depending on where you are stationed. The pay is so low that it usually attracts people who are used to low pay and inconsistent work.
That being said, pretty much every trail crew I have been on has been great. Very nice people, down to earth. I've been on five trail crews with a total of around 40 people and I can only think of two who I've had problems with.
The higher up in the ranks you get the more professional and serious people become, but it seems like everyone has very similar roots in the trail business.
