>>120552Like I said it's my first time growing them, so I'm going on what I read online and general experience with other crops. A tip I can already share is to go for an autumn planting, instead of an early spring one. The ones I planted October last year are doing much better, with more flowers and foliage than the spring-planted ones. They were of comparable size and quality, and got planted in the same soil. It's the same with my black- and raspberry plants.
Also, paying for strawberry plants is a bit silly imho, seeing as most cultivars put out runners at the end of the season. I simply traded some produce to different other gardeners for their strawberries during summer, and asked the one with the strawberries I liked the most if I could have some of his plantlets in autumn. Most gardeners get more clones from their plants than they know what to do with.
Pic unrelated; My rhubarb plant finally seems to be recovering. It unexpectedly responded badly to transplanting a few weeks ago.
