46 year old here, who remembers camping with the Boy Scouts in leaky canvas tents
and sweating my ass off in a plastic poncho, while wearing soaking wet leather boots.
I have a Realtree camo GoreTex shell parka and pants that I bought 15+ years back for
hunting and camping and it still works as advertised, though it's the early slick material
that's kinda noisy, ("wicka-wicka") while some of the newer products are much softer
and flexible and feel almost like natural cloth.
Unless you're the poorest of poorfags, there is no reason not to own at least a GoreTex jacket.
