I understand the need for gradings to be able to judge whether you will be able to complete a route or not, especially for trad, but the emphasis on grades is one of the worst problems in the climbing scene. >>505355>better than british...Actually, although I never use it myself, I think the British grading system is far superior when it comes to trad climbing. It's so descriptive of the severity of the route. While the Americans try to use the X grades, it does not give you nearly as much information.
