A lot of our state has much in common with the Alpine nations, though most of our elevations are much lower.
We have a lot of beautiful rivers, a lot of nice waterfalls, a decent amount of as-yet-untouched wilderness and, my personal favorite, a lot of stonework/brickwork ruins that are being reclaimed by nature with time. Plus, during winter everything snows/freezes over, so everything becomes completely different and it becomes a new experience.
Pic related, me at the Glen Onoko waterfalls in Mauch Chaunk, PA, Carbon County. The 'Switzerland of America' or some such self-proclamation.
