It might just be in my head, but seems like the DEET works well for skeeters but not gnats and other bugs while the picardin was keeping everything away a little better. But idk, I neet to use it more to compare.
Wearing long sleeves and pants is still the best way to keep bugs away. Even if it's warm, get some light long sleeve shirts. There are a lot of good fishing shirts like that. Either Under Armour type material or Columbia fishing gear shit are my go-tos.
