>>361799>GPS accuracyAre you fucking seriously trying to tell me that a S5 has real time 2m accuracy? Anyway foretrex is 1m outdoors, 7m indoors
>battery life17 hours nonstop constant use, over a week-long minimum in standby, uses 2 AAA
>IP ratingIPX7, numerous immersion covers available for under $10
>speed of satellite aquisitionI've never used my 401 and had to wait longer than 15 seconds for a fix, standby eradicates having to wait all together, power back up and your good to go no waiting.
>Use offline maps as you would use it on dedicated GPS unitWhat if you are in a new area and don't have the specific offline map you want? What if you want to use previous destinations, logs, geocords, breadcrumbs?
>Average garmin is much less stable than average phoneI have never heard of a single instance of a single foretrex being unstable. Not one. All it does is GPS, nothing else. Some have had weird performance bugs in the 1.0 release years ago, but it's always been impossible to freeze or crash one unless you are trying somehow
>just like they never used commercial GPS unitspic related.
http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/10/07/seal-team-6-leaves-magpul-pmag-garmin-foretrex-401/>Top of the line GPS units nowadays include cellular radio part anyway so where's really the difference? Having a 3oz. stand alone without any compromise, whatsoever, is the difference.
