>>1959980I got pic related and frame off ebay, I like it. Many years ago I got a Spec-Ops T.H.E. Pack from the spec-ops website. It's fine, for what is basically an expensive civilian assault pack. Too much webbing imo, and the internal plastic stiffener and aluminum inserts for a "frame" are sold separately. Bought a Quiksilver surfer bag from a Quiksilver brick and mortar store on Oahu, its nice bc its waterproof and invisible to normies. Got a USGI assault pack from the Army; its durable and lightweight and still the best backpack I have, despite being UCP. Lots of other various bags, some milsurp collected over the years. Hiking bags are probably too big unless you're going multiple days outside of civilization, large military rucks and similar like mystery ranch shit is stupid unless you're packing out a whole moose. Gucci cube-n shit is dumb. I would say cheap chinese cube-n knockoffs are okay but they'll get dirty and tear quickly.
tldr get an assault pack or a medium ruck. Pack a couple changes of clothes, socks, medicine, bandages, whatever shelter you need. If you aren't going far, leave the gadgets and shit at home. External frame helps for mounting bulky shit if you need to.
