The fruiting bodies of most fungi will not stick around for longer than a couple of days before they start to rot or get attacked by other fungi (molds), bacteria, or animals. Certain woody polypores can stick around for months, but at that point they're not much more attractive than rotting wood. If you just want something that will sprout up every so often when conditions are right and will look nice for a day or 2 then you'll probably have some luck, but if you're expecting something out of a fairy tale where some frog lives in a mushroom house year round, or the rosebush equivalent of pic related, then you're going to be disappointed.
