Live in the south-east, but visited my grandpa in AZ for the first time, and took this hike alone on a whim because it was so close to where we stayed. I only made it about 3/4 of the way to the peak before my nerves from the exposure at one spot made me choose to turn around about 600 vertical feet short of the top.
It is a steep, but relatively short distance hike, so I had the physical ability, but boy I am afraid of heights and I have never been on a mountain like this before. There was a man and his 5-year-old daughter going up as I went down, but I heard from another hiker that caught up to me on the way down that when he passed them the girl was going to be riding her father's shoulders the rest of way up! adorable
