>>1019276>>1019277(1) and (2) hopefully describe how I attach the suspension to the hammock.
You pull the end of the strap through the end loop of the hammock, take a piece of it and make a loop around the hammock cord, then feed the "loop through the loop". Pull it tight by the inner loop, then secure it by pulling at the hammock, not the suspension (otherwise the knot might close in the wrong direction and as soon as you sit down, the knot reverses and the suspension gets longer by~5cm/2").
Try not to make a twist in the remaining loop (unlike me), as this will make it more difficult to release the know, which you'll do by pulling at the remaining end of the strap (3).
(4) shows how I attach my ridgeline.
Imo the less parts/equipment you need, the less you need to carry and the less points of failure you have (I'm also a poor student this solution is the cheapest). Plus this is amazingly fast, I can setup and take down the hammock in less than a minute, so I hang out when-/wherever I need to wait for more than 10 minutes.
>>1019294You can just put a sleeping pad or a (body shaped) air mattress (like Thermarest) blown up ~3/4 into your sleeping bag. This doesn't work with OQs though.
