Like for a ridge line on a tarp I'd imagine you'd want one long piece, but then what about smaller lengths for tying down the corners/inserting pegs? Plus if you're just tying something onto your pack or holding some sticks together you wouldn't want to use all 100 feet right? So what to do? Cut it into several 10 foot lengths and then keep a long one for tarp purposes?
