Here's the update as of this morning. The 72-ct greenhouse is SUPER humid and moist but no real signs of growth yet...except for something white that 'might' be a stem from one of the Lemon Balm plants trying to push itself out of the soil. The Burpee package says 14-21 days to germination for that so it will be interesting what happens. I'm going to remove the domes, turn on the desk lamps, step out for a bit and come back with an update picture if there is progress on that. Nothing yet for the 36-ct. greenhouse either. That one doesn't have a heat mat under it and has all 20 carrots plus 2 sunflowers and 4 corn plants that I'm going to put in a different part of the garden. Corn and tomato plants don't get along with eachother!
As far as the soil bed, I noticed that the top 1'x1' container wasn't painted all the way so I started painting it yesterday afternoon (it still isn't dry) and I painted the one side I couldn't paint yesterday so I had to remove it. All the fertilizer has been added:
a mixture of
4-3-4 Espoma Holly Tone
16-16-16 Lilly Miller All Purpose
21-0-0 Ammonium Sulfate
9-12-12 Expert Gardener Tomato and Vegetable Food
Plus a bit of peat moss, dolomite, perlite, sand, native garden soil with the rocks filtered out, Miracle Gro Garden Soil, and Epsom salts. The middle tier isn't as well mixed, I need to add back some native soil there, and I need to use a level to make sure the tiers are even. I don't have compost but I'm thinking of buying a bag of something to add to the middle which will spill over into the 1'x1' top part... any suggestions? I'll post the soil tests I did a month ago on this area (depleted nitrogen, pH of 7.25ish, phosphorus and potassium levels are ok). Its also supposed to rain this weekend so I'm thinking of leaving the area uncovered so the rain will mix everything in and I can test the soil again later. I don't know if I should temporarily put black trashbags over the soil or use some Preen Weed Preventer granules I have...
