I've measured plenty of ammo which is definitely .308w size, including Federal, Winchester and Remington. So it might become an issue if you want to change cartridge with the rifle but a small ring Mauser would never be the rifle of choice for that when large rings are no more expensive.
Also why would you use a Mauser action to make a Creedmoor? the whole point of the .260 and Creedmoor is to take advantage of short actions, you could make a 6.5-06 and it would cost you less to feed in brass and deliver better performance, just to be clear, nothing against 6.5 Creedmoor, just didn't think it was ideal for a Mauser.
