They put a fair bit of oomf, way more than people give them credit for. I've got a friend who makes them for a living ( no joke) on the mainland- he's pretty serious about it and has a crony. He did some testing, and shooting an identical set up to mine, shooting 9.5mm steel at 92 M/S
you.re getting better 17.5 J. Using bigger (heavier) ammo and better bands he's had up to 75J. Tested against fleshed pig's heads anything with better than 23J would punch right through to pulp the brain.
