In that position though, remaining in a sparsely populated and exposed midwestern shithole is a questionable move. A better idea would be to take the $40 greyhound down to a big city in California or Florida and live among the filth and vermin where he could fit in and thrive. As long as he never got arrested again he could probably find an under the table job and rent a room with cash. ride a bike or whatever, steal someone's identity.
