>>2786402Unironically learn to fish, and learn to love and target "lesser" fish like bass, pike, and catfish. Hunting is fucking expensive unless you happen to live in an area where you have easy access and generous seasons. I have to drive 1 or more hours to get anywhere I can shoot and at least 2 hours to get anywhere with any chance of seeing game. Before I got my hookups for good deer land I spent many hundreds of dollars and countless hours every year chasing tiny morcels of small game and not getting any big game on public land, it doesn't pay off until you're at the point where you can reliably take big game, which may take a lifetime.
You can buy several fishing rods, reels, lures, and a small kayak before you come even close to the price of a low range hunting rifle. I fish 15 minutes from home, after work, weekend mornings with my son, fill a stringer and add 3 or 4 pounds of protein to the freezer, at the cost of time and a few lost hooks and bait (often free)
Hunting is great, it's not part of your short term solutions.
