On the subject of western volcanism, I've recently been listening to some lectures by a Central Washington University professor on the geology of the area, including the movement of the Yellowstone supervolcano through the region over time. He showed that the path curves westward, down and up, as it is today, but it actually just went straight line northeastward. This is because Cali and Ore have been pushed upward as the continent has drifted over the Yellowstone hotspot, which has remained essentially stationary itself.
Eastern Woodlands is still betta, however, as it is the closest thing to Eden we have left on Earth.
