Hi /hgm/, I come once again asking for advices.
Wolly's doing well and somehow survived the winter without getting any root rot, so now it's spring and he's starting to fluff up and sprout. I finally got him out of his tiny plastic planter and moved him into a slightly larger (albeit only 6L) pot, and sprinkled with controlled-release fertilizer. The pot drains well and I have it slightly elevated on chopsticks so it'll never be sitting in water.
My question is, looking ahead to the growing season, what should I be doing to keep him from outgrowing his new pot too quickly? I'm not exactly trying to bonsai the thing but I also don't want a yard plant. I'll want lush healthy fronds but I don't want him getting crazy tall or rootbound within just the summer.
Do nothing and then wait till winter to trim or should I be a little more proactive?
