freecampsites.net is what RVers use. But your best option in the east will always be finding a trailhead and backpacking in. There's no substitute for the solitude you can find a couple miles in. The /out/ superpower for avoiding disgusting normies is a willingness to do things that are uncomfortable, inconvenient, or marginally strenuous.
