Hi all,
Every year I would plant too many indeterminate cherry tomatoes in one spot and I'd get a dense tangled mess of tomatoes where half the fruits were inaccessible and there was poor airflow.
I'm starting to think that I may have over-compensated this year and over-spaced everything - do you guys think I could afford to move the 3 tomatoes up a bit and put 2 more plants below them in a staggered formation(ie - the 2 lower plants would be between the 1st/2nd and 2nd/3rd respectively. I was thinking even doing 2 rows of 3, but the garden is only 5 foot deep. I want lots of tomatoes, but I don't want to do digging through a tangled mess of tomato vines to get fruit. I also figure that room between plants will improve airflow and keep molds away.
Anyone with a lot of experience growing in limited-space gardens want to help a newb out? This is year #4 for me, but it's the first year that I've tried to approach the garden with a mindset of planning and optimization.
