>>251305On Bear vs. Les (reality of their show):
Bear's show is very not real, because he runs around to show you places and what to do in those places. This is where everyone praises Les for having such a genius format - 7 days alone with his own camera gear. Everyone always says "Well can't fuck up because then he dies!" or something like that, but in reality Les carries a sat phone for emergencies. He is completely alone though, which is not necessarily good for the realism: he has to set up his portable cameras, walk past them, and then walk back, pick them up and actually walk that distance again. This makes him more tired than he should be and does not reflect a real survival situation at all. Bear sold out to Walmart and Gerber and markets "survival" gear that is cheaply made in China for the sake of saving money for Fiskars - not a good idea trusting your life to items that are made overseas.
