>>1186953This guy again posting an update. Did a bunch of reading on the net and apparently I need to have
>~12L (3 gallons) of water per person for the vehicle in a watertight container>a sink>sufficient grey water tank>3m length hose to empty it out into>toilet, needs to have enough room to take a shit with the bed packed away and room for elbows on both sides. Still no idea if "toilet" is defined as something like a proper chemical/composting one or if I can just have a bucket with a lid. >a garbage bin with a lidSo seems simple enough but the hard part will be figuring out how little I can get away with to pass the inspection. I was planning on having a basic sink/water/grey water setup anyway but it'd be annoying to set shit up and to fail an inspection.
As far as parking is concerned, NZ allows free camping but where you can park depends on whether your vehicle has the above or not. If you don't have the above shit and haven't passed an inspection then you are only allowed to park in designated places that have a public toilet. They don't want people shitting in the forest it seems.
Having a "self-contained" vehicle seems to let you park basically anywhere because they assume you're not gunna do a pajeet and just shit anywhere, but they want you to dump your waste into specific drop-off centers.
This sound accurate to anyone done a van trip in NZ? Apparently they changed their laws a year or two ago so shit might be different.
