I also have some football jigheads that are basically undressed jigs with no weed guard. Not weedless but they have more weight to them than most shakey heads and stand up a little bit I guess.
But then with Texas Rigs and Shakey Heads, you gotta be careful going too heavy. Sometimes lighter is better since it will make the bait fall slower and give it a more natural presentation. Plus if you have mud or vegetation on the bottom, a 1/2oz weight will bury itself in it while a 1/8oz setup will probably sit on top.
