>>483367OP here: That is an outstanding list and almost 9lbs of fat trimming- I really appreciate you taking the time to write that up and look up the weights of everything. I've been marinating with a coffee this morning, looking these things up and having a read. Going over my original list I made earlier, and looking at what I have around the house, I can see that there is in fact, quite a bit of excess and some uneducated decisions.
Frankly, I am on a budget, so the larger priced items (The BIG Three) will have to be acquired over some time. I just dropped funds on a 4-season tent to get my girlfriend to come /out/... I also tend to lean to brands that offer lifetime warranties. The Zpack looks great, but for the same price and a compromise of +3oz, I can buy an Arc'Teryx Alfa 45 (as a rough example) use a few compression sacks and have a lifetime warranty. Maybe I'll never need the warranty and it's all just silly talk, but having a warranty for that one instance, justifies my purchase. Or maybe I wake up tomorrow and IDGAF about warranties...
The flashlight may seem excessive, but on it's 2nd lowest setting (25 lumen) it has a burn time of 43hrs, and is waterproof. Most all headlamps can't even get close to touching that and most headlamp makers have their high performance lights between 6 and 27oz., some water resistant most are not.
The weight of your knife- is that with the sheath and some kind of handle? I have a Becker Necker that weighs 5.4oz with sheath and 550 cord handle with two layers of wrap.
Again, sweet list and thanks a ton to you and everyone else. This thread is helping big time.
