The woods I played in as a kid, a car dealership bought the land and cut down the woods to build a car dealership.
It was an awful location that's not visible or accessible from the road and they realized this AFTER they cut down the trees.
They also tore down an old farmhouse on the land that was from the 19th century.
Right now there's a beautiful rock quarry that was abandoned in the 30s and has been overtaken by nature and they want to dump road construction waste in it. Thankfully the people that live there are upset, but THEY want it to be a swimming beach instead, when there's already a swimming beach made from another old rock quarry a few miles from it.
