I have no fantasies about soaked clothing retaining warmth
My trapline pack has a drybag with mylar blankets, a towel, wool sweater and pants.
If I top out my waders and soak the wool underneath, those clothes are stripped off, a fire is started with the firelog I carry, and I try to dry with the towel while using the mylar to reflect heat back at me. Then the dry wool goes on. It has to be wool because I'm going to be essentially hugging a fire for dear life, a situation where plastic fantastic will melt onto my skin. I melted a woobie pretty badly this way trying to get keep warm during a similar situation when I was feverish on a backpacking trip.
