Building superintendent where I live directed my attention to "a fishing thing" in the garbage/moving room.
I found an 8 foot "medium", fast action 3/8thsoz-2oz Lews XL Laser rod and a Lews Laser XL 60 spinning reel.
This rod is an older version of a rod which appears to still be available on amazon. The new rods have titanium oxide guide inserts whereas this rod obviously does not but comes equipped with a fat probably ceramic insert of some kind.
Still I found a new rod for free in the garbage room next to the dumpster.
I took off the junky monofilament which was on the reel. Everything is in working order. Going to open up the reel and clean/oil it just to be sure.
I put on some 50lb braid because that's all I had and the reel gobbled up 150yds and wanted more but I didn't have any more. Still I have some line on the rod and am ready to test it out. Maybe as a live bait rod?
