They're logging roads, the ones on federal land are rarely used for logging anymore, thanks Bill Clinton. Now they're just good access for fire crews when the overgrown forests eventually burn down. They are a lot of fun to explore in an /out/mobile, you can find lots of cool little camping or boondocking spots.
