>>2088002Im starting from scratch too and am planning to do it by steps. We dont have much of a recreational hunting culture in Australia so theres barely anything in the way of guides online.
In my state, I dont even know if treestands exist in public land, and you cant use bait so you're forced to learn proper spot/stalk methods.
Another thing ive noticed is that very few hunters will share exactly where they went and the route they took to find their target. You just get a montage of them hiking in a forest and killing something at the end with meagre context on the stalk.
Im planning to have a few goes hiking through the areas, getting a feel for the land. Learning to spot animals, following the basic daily patterns and behaviors.
Eventually ill combine that with taking hunting gear and all the licensing, having hopefully already established my ability to spot animals, ill be learning to get closer till it all comes together and i score some meat.
>>2088049Yea Meateater and a few other good shows give a pretty sobering lesson on how difficult it can be, even for pros with all the best gear and experience.
I have no delusions about succeeding on my first few attempts knowing the likes of Rinella has whole episodes where he fails to kill anything on week long hunts.
