Jura's a nice wee place to visit if you can get across and the weather's right. I'd been there a few times before and even did the Jura leg of the islands peaks race a while back while at school.
Things to watch out for are ticks & cleggs. Jesus there were a lot of each, which I guess is to be expected on an island where apparently the red deer outnumber residents 10:1. (Don't know how accurate that is but there are hundreds). Saw some deer up Beinn an Oir, the highest peak on Jura. They were about 2000ft up and when they got spooked then ran at some speed down a steep rocky shute. Must've been about 30 up there. Also spotted a mountain hair bounding up the hill pretty rapidly, think it was munching on all the blaeberries. I had handfuls of them and they're pretty delicious.
If I had more time I'd go explore the northern end of the island which doesnt have as big hills but is less inhabited (even though there's hardly anyone on the island all in all).
