>>2009118Yeah that's exactly what I'm planning on doing now, except for the racks and panniers. I'm probably never going to use real big panniers that hang on the sides (not ideal for off roading and trying to pack as little as possible) but I might still use front and/or rear racks and put some sort of bag and whatnot on them, kinda like pic attached. There are a lot of other options like this that don't involve panniers (wald baskets is an other one).
That being said I'm gonna do my first trips with some cheap bikepacking bags (frame, saddle and maybe handlebar) that will do the job just fine to get me started. I don't want to have to mess around with finding good and compatible racks for the cheap mtb bike I'll buy and then have to spend time installing them. I just want to buy the bike, strap the bags, load them and go the fuck out already. I can't stand staying inside my room anymore I'm going fucking insane.
>>2009136I hear a lot of good talk about Scwalbe Marathons yeah, but I'm gonna spend most of my time on gravel roads, paths, some single tracks etc so I need something that isn't road oriented.
>>2009142Looking good! What kind of handlebar is this? And what are those weird things hanging out at the end of it? (end of the tube).
Also, thoughts on kickstands? A lot of people hate them for some weird reasons.
