tl;dr will a food grade 100% flaxseed oil from the nearest supermarket work for finishing my knife's wood handle?
>>2273989>buy Opinel knife because they're cheap and they seem to do what I want to do>go on knife thread>Opinel seems to be favored>check out my yuru bros because all I do is yuru camp>never noticed that Rin also has an OpinelCool, guess I lucked out.
This knife will only be used for:
>food processing, raw meat, veggies>making feather sticksThe shopkeeper told me to use either beeswax or mineral oil for the handle, these two are readily available and seem to be the easiest option, but not necessarily the best.
I've heard flax/linseed oil is the best, however I have to make sure that I properly dry it before I use it for processing food, and I should take my time and apply multiple coatings to ensure proper penetration/absorption.
Lucky I'm going camping this weekend so I have two days to do this process.
Do I just go to the nearest supermarket and grab a bottle of food grade 100% flaxseed oil? That should do the trick right? I mean, as long as it's 100% flaxseed oil, though I guess it will be a bit more expensive that going to a proper woodworking store.
