>>2687616>there is a lot to be said for carrying a big, heavy ass knifeno, i used to carry a USMC kabar combat knife, but have since replaced it with an ultralight trowel after realizing that 100% of its use was to dig shit holes. as far as knives go, the soldatenmesser 08 is the most solid one i've come across. i carry picrel 100% of the time, it's essentially good as new after 5+ years of taking care of it (regular cleaning, sharpening blades, oiling joints, etc.). my only complaint, the saw is essentially useless, but it kinda works in cases where you really need to cut firewood and don't carry a dedicated saw
