Or if you're a lazy fuck like me, throw one of these shirts on and you're good to go. Bought pic related from amazon for like 25 bucks and they work really well. May seem counter-intuitive to wear a long sleeve shirt on a hot day but the fabric wicks really well and it's extremely light that it keeps you cool.
The main purpose of the shirt is to block UV rays which is definitely an issue because the UV rays bouncing off the water's surface fries you to a crisp without UV protection/sunscreen. Just like people getting sunburnt when snowboarding/skiing in freezing temps.
