I lead around and audit some planting crews in the PNW too and my crew of 18 guys this past year could put around 23,000 bare-root trees in the ground per day (usually less,since we were in slash covered, rocky cable ground). These guys are paid hourly though, and not by the tree, so we get quality work even if it's not the fastest.
