Just moved into a new place with a neglected communal garden, in which I'm eager to start my first raised bed (6 ft * 3 ft). However there's a lot of shade sources from the buildings, wall, trees and bushes so I'm looking for some advice on the best location and orientation for the bed. Pic related taken from the building, facing roughly the south west. I'd also like to avoid putting it right in the centre of the garden because of the kids that seem to play there when the weather is good (I'm in Scotland, so that's happens only in summer). I plan to translant in hardy greens and onions that I have in containers, and plant more onion sets and radishes ASAP for growing over autumn and winter. Haven't yet decided what to plant come spring.
